It’s hard to find an ocean-front vacation experience that can match seaside Gearhart by the Sea. Historical Significance to the Brim

Founded in 1811, the town has seen many changes throughout its time, but it’s undeniable that it has kept its charm throughout. As a former major port hub, Astoria, Oregon, takes pride in its history. That is evident with the abundance of museums throughout town, including the Maritime Museum, Oregon Film Museum, and Uppertown Firefighters Museum. Your final historical stop has to be the Astoria Column, which towers 125 feet in the air and is nearly 100 years old itself!

It offers an urban park setting in the middle of downtown and features beautiful iconography and interesting facts. Just a short drive from downtown Astoria will take you to Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, where you can get an up-close look at the perils and adventures of prior explorers. This park balances a variety of offerings that even includes an incredibly unique paddle tour that takes you through the lush riverbanks of the Lewis and Clark River.
